The Rest of May!

It was a crazy month... which means I was SUPER glad to see it end!  :)  Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all bad, it was just CRAZY!  So here's what I didn't get to post about for the rest of May...

We found out that Reagan had a UTI (the earlier mentioned E-Coli), which wasn't too big a deal.  But about a week into her antibiotics she got some kind of virus.  She had a really high fever for almost a week total, it was horrible!  But for Reagan a fever also means vomiting.  (Ya, it's probably TMI, but sometimes its hard being her and I am not going to sugar coat it! ;))  Because she was puking constantly we couldn't keep anything in her... Rx meds, fever reducer, fluids. So after 4 days, with her only getting worse, we finally took her to the ER. (Why the ER? Long story short, it was a weekend and we were pretty sure she would need an IV. So we skipped the dr/urgent care.) They did some tests and felt that it was probably just a virus that would run its course.  But she was VERY dehydrated.  So... Reagan got her first IV... in her head!  :/
**Side Note:  Her little cabbage patch kid hands made it really hard to find a vein, and rather than continue to poke her after trying both hands, they asked if they could do it in her head!  Aside from looking horrible, it was safe and SO much easier!  Anyway, just wanted to clear that up!  :)
Not my proudest mom moment, having to sit in the corner while the nurses put it in, but I just couldn't watch them do it.  Luckily Patrick was there to help hold her!!!  8 hours and 2 IV bags later we finally got to go home!  She did seem to feel better and they gave us some help for the fever, it only lasted another couple days.

...And then just 2 days after that... she was back at the dr. office for what I thought was her ears but turned out to be croup!... (Ya, well, what can ya do!? haha. I realize now that those are two very unrelated issues, ears and coughing.  But I'm not a doctor, that's why I took her to one!  hahaha.)  Poor girl!  Fortunately for us we own a nebulizer and she was given an oral steroid too.  She was good as ever after a few days!  ...And so far, she has stayed that way!  (Fingers crossed!!)  I hate it when my kids don't feel good, it is seriously the worse feeling ever... so helpless!  I'm SO grateful for modern medicine!!

And Reagan got feeling better just in time for us to skip town on the 31st and head to Vegas to hang with the Salisbury clan for a week!  I have a ba-jillion pictures... so there will be posts!  :)  When I get the chance!  :)
