Catching up...

December was really busy with lots of festive fun!  Harrison had a school party...
And a pj day!  (He made the reindeer hat all by himself.)  :)
And he has been losing teeth (and getting new ones) SO stinking fast, he is going to bankrupt the Tooth Fairy!
Jackson has been busy at school!  He was chosen to represent his class on the student council this year!!  Woot woot!  :)  (This was the first chance I had to get a picture of him in his shirt!) Handsome devil! And check out those awesome teeth!  The braces come off in a couple more months!  Yay!!
Reagan is always busy... but lately she's been making big strides in feeding!  She is feeding herself with a spoon and a fork!!  (Holy cow, I have totally taken so many of the little things for granted over the years!!)  This is the first time she has eaten mac'n cheese all by herself!
And Grant is figuring out this crawling thing... which means he's discovered he can get to and get into everything!  Yay! (Said with silent screaming face!)
:)

The Box - A Kinder Musical

December 17, 2013
Cutest little show ever!  All about a box... and some imagination.  A castle, a house, a rocket ship, a fire truck, a pirate ship and a time machine... endless possibilities! Harrison was a fireman... a very cute fireman!  :)

Reagan LOVED the singing and clapping!  :)
He even had a little speaking part.  :)
Handsome Bub did a great job in his first school program!  We are Super proud of you, Buddy!!  :)

WiNtErHaVeN... Christmas Lights - AZ Style

Winterhaven has become one of our Christmas traditions since moving to the desert.  It's kind of a small piece of Christmas magic and spirit all rolled into one little neighborhood in Tucson.  :)  Almost every house is decorated, SO many lights and cool themes and ideas, it's so much fun!  We take some of our favorite people with us, our adopted family, and there is even snow!  :)
Ok, not real snow... it's southern Arizona, we have to pretend.  :)
This is most of the kids that were with our group. (The backdrop is a little small. haha.) We love these families!!
Buddy the Elf was there!  It's hard to see, but someone made this mural on their garage out of duct tape!!  Everything but Buddy's face!
And there was a snow machine... that made snow out of soap.  :)  So... it tastes bad and it hurts if it gets in your eyes, but they would have stayed here all night anyway!  Hahaha.
 Reagan found the princesses.  :)
Such a fun night!!

Christmas is Coming...

December 9, 2013
Reagan got to be in her first preschool program.  She didn't sing ;) but she did get some smiles and clapping and even a couple of stomps in there.  :)  It was a fun night for our family!!  And an emotional moment for me! We love this girl SOOO much!!

Before - That's one excited girl!!  :)
All her boys!  :)  Waiting to watch the show.
I think she was doing the robot!  Hahaha.
This is Reagan with her sweet aid, she is the BEST! Reagan is kind of small for her age, so she would disappear behind other kids. Her aid moved her up to the front so we could see her!
After - She was pretty proud of herself!  Rightfully so, she is such a big, brave girl!
And just as an added bonus, here are the many faces of Reagan!  Hahaha.  This was while I was trying to get a picture of her in her dress. :)

November 29, 2013
Thanksgiving weekend was low key as always.  :)

We had a wonderful dinner together and Patrick did his first ever black friday shopping. hahaha.  It was a bust, but at least now he can say he did it once.  :)  Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays, it's all about food and family and being together.  We didn't get to be with our extended family this year, but we got to be together as our little family.  Love it when we get to just be together!!

I haven't had the best year, not for a lack of being blessed, mostly just for a lack of a good attitude and sleep.  ;)  This last pregnancy was harder on me, physically, mentally, emotionally.  I struggled to be grateful for any of it.  I'm not proud of it, especially since I wanted another baby so badly and we waited so long to get him.  ...I think in my mind I thought it would be easier when he was born and I wasn't so miserable any more.  I'm not sure why I thought that, I've had three other children, I know darn well they are easier inside you!  hahaha.  But sadly, that negative attitude bled into my postpartum life.  I suddenly felt like all of my children had some how multiplied, my house was a constant disaster and I was overwhelmed with keeping up.  "Drowning" is the word that comes to mind.  Adjusting to #3 was so easy, Reagan didn't turn our world upside down (at least not right away), so I assumed #4 would be the same way.  I was overconfident.  hahaha. Grant wasn't even the problem, the problem was me.  I just felt defeated and tired and overworked (there may or may not have been a lot of wallowing) and there didn't seem to be a light at the end of tunnel.  It was go go go all the time. And my attitude seemed to get worse by the minute.  (Mostly because I had talked myself into defeat before he was even born, so digressing from there was pretty easy!)  I'd make snide jokes about my kids, or my hard life.  I sorta became that person I really don't like... the one that whines about their blessings. :/  Not my proudest year.

I don't know if I'm quite confident enough yet to say I'm treading water, but I am definitely feeling more buoyant.  ;)  I have been trying very hard to see the good, find my gratitude.  It's so much easier for me to be happy (still tired and overwhelmed, but happy) when I change the way I look at my life.  So I'm particularly happy for this chance, after this year, to focus on it!  I needed it!  To sit back and revel in my blessings... I am realizing this isn't going to last forever.  And while that sometimes brings me great joy ;), watching the time slip away so fast sort of breaks my heart.  So I'm going to try my hardest to soak it up. Enjoy it rather than complain about it.  It's a work in progress.  :)  But there is SO much to be grateful for!!!

Getting to know all about you...

November 16, 2013
I was challenged on FB to say 10 things about myself.  This is what I came up with:

"Ten things you may not know about me. #1 - I don't like to cook. But I wish I did. #2 - I laugh inappropriately at people getting hurt. I cant help it. It's a nervous reaction. #3 - I can't start reading a book and then stop before I'm done (except to make sure tiny humans get fed and changed). It's exhausting and usually very unproductive. #4 - I am a middle child. #5... - I HATE public speaking. #6 - I LOVE Pepsi and naps. #7 - I have been pulled over 22 times, I have had 2 tickets. #8 - I am not a finisher. I start all kinds of things, with the best of intentions, but never finish most of them. #9 - I am a night owl. #10 - I don't have any really established talents. But I am handy enough to get by most of the time. hahaha."

Patrick was a booger and teased me about #8, so I challenged him to do the same.  :)

"Here's to your silly little game. 10 things people may not know about me.

10- I was extremely disappointed when I opened my mission call and saw Honduras. After seven years of Spanish in junior high, high school, and college I was done with Spanish. My first thought was, "ahhh crap!" Ended up being the best mission in the world and changed my life. Not a day goes by that I don't ...think about it.

9- My biggest fear is failure. Especially when it comes to being a good husband and father. Rattlesnakes are a close second.

8- I have a difficult time dealing with stupid people. I work for the government so everyday is a real struggle for me.

7- I broke a backboard on a put-back dunk on my mission. Saw the cops, got scared, and took off running with the rim in my hand. Not sure why I ran, but there were about 7 other missionaries that ran too. Makes me laugh every time I think about it.

6- I love to read and write. I love books! All kinds of books. I hope my kids will be as passionate about reading as I am. I love a good story and there is so much to learn about out there. I enjoy making people laugh and have thought about writing a book for years now. I just don't know what to write about or where to start. Lol!

5- I recently watched 42 for the first time. I learned I have an elongated heel bone that gives me an unfair advantage when it comes to sports. I have never heard that before, but apparently that heel bone is what makes me so damn fast!

4- I find that I am constantly repenting for stupid things I say and do. Judge me all you want. I'm a work in progress.

3- I am very patriotic. I love this country, it's history, and everything it stands for. I get emotional every time I hear the national anthem. I wasn't man enough to join the military, but I have taken two Oaths of Office and they actually mean something to me.

2- Despite what others may think, I have always tried to be mentally, physically, & spiritually "tough." Mentally strong because I think you have to be if you choose the career path that I chose 11 years ago. Physically strong because I was raised as a cowboy. Cowboys don't cry. I was kicked in the head when I was 7 or 8 by my dad's horse. (This actually explains a lot about why I am the way I am.) Didn't cry. Just got knocked out. Blew my knee out in a stupid basketball tournament and walked into the doctor's office the next day under my own power and he didn't believe me because I was walking. I also completed one of my academies with a torn mcl and separated shoulder after being hit by a car. Spiritually tough because while I don't ask for trials or adversities, I will never shy away from them. I am grateful for them and what they teach me. Because of my testimony of certain things that pertain to my religious faith, I know there is nothing I/we can't handle.

1- I have a bad temper and literally no patience. I have the nickname "Big Angry Mormon" for a reason. I constantly pray for charity. Some days I have it. Some days I don't. I try be a good example and try to find ways to serve others, but some days I struggle. I try to "practice what I preach" to my kids, but I'm pretty sure I just confuse them. Most of the time I tell them not to do what I just did."

Patrick likes to write... about himself... apparently.  hahahaha.  :)  I thought it was fun though, and something I wanted to keep.
